Tour this adorable and historic town of Castine in the town golf cart, Scarlett. Tours leave from the town dock and are run by trained volunteers of the town. They'll take you all over and even bring you to the lighthouse! If you can't find Scarlett, drop in the visitor's center to inquire. Suggested contribution of $10 per person! A fantastic way to see this charming little town and soak up the history. This runs seasonally!

What a great way to see the town! This was my first trip to Castine, and Bill made sure I didn't miss a thing. He was so knowledgeable about local landmarks and history, and seeing the scenery from a golf cart was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it!

Sadly, Closed for Business Temporarily

Scarlett, a fully licensed and insured "Low Speed Vehicle", is the brainchild of three very special local ladies who got together a few years back to explore ways to enhance the experience of our visitors to Castine, Maine. First settled in 1613, our historic little Midcoast town on the shores of Penobscot Bay is literally  "The place where history never grows old". As a result of these ladies' efforts we now have The Castine Touring Company, a not-for-profit LLC which exists for the sole purpose of sharing the rich history, beautiful architecture, magnificent elm trees and wonderful ambiance of our community with our valued guests. Site of the Maine Maritime Academy, our deep water harbor is unique on the east coast, making this place literally one of the most coveted sailing venues in the world. Our dedicated Scarlett drivers are all fully trained volunteers*, who happily share their time and vast knowledge of the area with you, so that you may gain the most from your stay here. If you are tired of fighting the crowds in Acadia, Camden and Bar Harbor, come to the Blue Hill Peninsula and Castine for a true Coastal Maine experience. We are a little off the beaten path. You will have to consult a map or your GPS to find us. But...that's part of what makes us special.  In fact, many of our visitors arrive from the water. However you get here, once you arrive, rest assured you will not want to leave. Castine is truly, "Under the elms and by the sea".

Suggested contribution for a 60 – 90 minute tour is $10 per passenger. Any additional contributions are appreciated, and go directly to The Scarlett Fund, in support of local Castine civic projects.

*Occasionally one of our volunteer drivers may not be available to fill a particular schedule. We apologize in advance for any disappointment this may cause.
